A record 5 medals from BUCS Nationals!

7 UEA+Sport clubs headed to Sheffield this week (14th-16th February) for one of the highlights of the HE sporting calendar, BUCS Nationals. Students competed from the following clubs; Athletics, Badminton, Climbing, Fencing, Judo, Karate & Swimming who took on the best sporting talent across Britain. Our students performed fantastically, with us winning 5 medals across the weekend: UEA+Sport Scholar’s Elliot Dronfield (Karate U75kg, Bronze) & Prince Reid (Ambulant LJ, Bronze), Pedro Antunes (Judo U55kg, Bronze), Jordann French (Judo U66kg, Bronze Kyu Grade) and Athena Yu (Karate, Intermediate Individual Kata, Bronze). This is the largest medal haul UEA have achieved at this event!

In addition to this, Charlotte Slater (Epee), Kiron Austin (Foil) and Tin Chen (Sabre) all made the final 32 in Fencing, Prince Reid also came 4th in the Ambulant 60m, Nathan Protheroe made the final in the Men’s long jump, Hannah Brown (400m) and Lucy Hope (200m) both made the semi-finals. Rikke Nagel-Kleven made the final of the 200IM, Liv Neale the final of the 100m Backstroke and all four relay teams made the B final. We would like to congratulate all of the athletes who competed at the championships, as they did themselves, their clubs and the university proud.
