What do you like about Moves?
The app is easy to use and link up to an activity monitoring watch or health app, so it captures absolutely everything. It also offers a pretty good range of rewards to choose from.
How has the app impacted your physical activity levels?
I was already active, but downloading the app did give me a bit of a push to continue with my training at the same level because it was satisfying to see the points shoot up. I usually train on the UEA grounds, so I often use the points I gain after exercising.
What you like doing physical activity wise?
I got addicted to long distance running last year, and have been steadily increasing my distance. I tend to run five days a week so rarely do anything else! However, I don’t drive so I generally get around by cycling and walking, which helps increase my activity levels and provides some cross-training.
What is your physical activity top tip?
Find a programme and book an event to aim for. I’m awful at dragging myself out on a run without a set goal and timeline. Another important thing – don’t push it! I’ve had to take time off due to injury, which could have been avoided by listening to my body better.
What rewards have you enjoyed the most?
Personally, I use most of my points on getting my caffeine fix. The rewards are pretty generous, as I haven’t paid for a coffee since March! However, the lockdown period and marathon training enabled me to build up a lot when I also couldn’t spend them.
What are your favourite challenges?
I haven’t actually joined any yet, but I’d be most interested in the 5K a day challenge – as I tend to barely do anything on my days off. This would be motivation! My current personal challenge is to run a marathon distance.
