Sporting provision at UEA for commuter students
Working with the UEA commuting students' team we have listed some helpful ways to hopefully reduce the barriers commuting students see when joining sports clubs and Active Campus activities. SmartShare - Found here - UEA have a lift sharing scheme for students commuting to campus. In order to access the service, students must live more than 5km from campus, not be in the same household as those they share with and complete more than 80% of journeys with at least one other lift sharer. The benefits include - shared parking cost (and reduced parking), reserved parking before 9:30am, less CO2 emissions and shared journey cost. To sign up visit the link above - if there are multiple commuters in a club it's worth trying to get them to colab on this - it gives them somewhere to keep kit during lectures. Commuter Breakfast - The Monday and Tuesday of the first week of each month at Zest hosts the commuter breakfast. Commuters can get a voucher towards a free breakfast or lunch and have a chance to meet likeminded students. You can find more information here. Space to Create (Sportspark) - Upstairs in Sportspark there is a study space called 'Space to Create', commuter students can use this communal space to study or relax between lectures and training. If students are lift sharing and need to kill time, they can head to the study space to get on with assignments or have a rest before club sessions. Feedback - We are looking for feedback from commuter students about how we can support them in sport and physical activity at UEA. Please send this link to commuting club members as a means of giving us ideas to support them: Feedback Form.
