Mountaineering at UEA

We are a very welcoming group who offer hikes for all experience levels, beginner to experienced. We go on regular trips, giving you the opportunity to go scrambling, hiking, rambling, walking, and climbing up some of the most beautiful mountains and trails that the UK's prized National Parks have to offer. With our weekend trips, swap out your books for walking boots as we get away from the hustle and bustle of university life, meet new people and visit idyllic locations including the Lake District, Snowdonia, and Peak District. With routes catering to all experiences and levels, all are welcome to join us in exploring the highest and prettiest parts of England, Scotland, and Wales. Led by experienced walk leaders, weekend trips offer the perfect opportunity to walk outdoors and learn the skills of map reading, navigation and leadership or simply admire the beautiful countryside and national parks of the UK.

Training Times & Venue

We have 14 trips this year including weekend and week long trips during term time and in the University holidays.

We have regular socials to get to know each other outside of the trips.

Recent History

As the oldest club at the university we’ve undergone some changes over the years, we started off as ‘Fell & Caving Club’, but now most of our members prefer to stick to the open vista of a mountain peak. Every other year (odd numbered years) we run an international trip to locations such as the Alps, Balkan Mountains, Atlas Mountains, and more. This past year we’ve seen record numbers go on trips with 28 ‘Fellers’ making the trek to the Lake District. The club is thriving so there’s never been a better time to get involved, join us at socials or dive right in and come along on a trip – we hope to see you in the hills!
