Who can take part?

Any student, alumni, member of staff or faculty, (including Norwich Research Park based staff) can compete in the Ziggurat Challenge.

What’s more it’s free! You can take part in, or spectate at, every event this year and pay absolutely nothing (*60p entry to the Sportspark without an activated campus card) We value your participation more than your money, so no excuses, just turn up and join in.
…and no matter how limited you may think your experience of a sport is, you can still give it a go and be in with a chance of winning valuable points for your school.

What sports does it involve?

15 different sporting events (see full timetable below) with all events requiring mixed gender teams.

Whilst this year’s programme is slightly different to previous years, we have tried to keep some in-person events in the calendar. Although the Ziggurat Challenge may have a slightly different look and feel this year, we are really excited to get the programme up and running, but rest assured we will be continuously monitoring Government and sport-specific NGB guidelines to ensure all activities are COVID-secure. For the most up to date information on events, please check our social media pages.

Lockdown 3.0 Update

Due to the current UK lockdown, and University guidance on face to face teaching resuming no earlier than 1st March for most degree courses, the Ziggurat Challenge is currently on hold. This means that all events scheduled for February will have to be rescheduled, or cancelled. An update will be provided once the uea+sport team have a better idea of what activities can take place once students return to campus. If you have any questions, please direct them to studentsport@uea.ac.uk and somebody will get back to you.
